Ugly nastiness gone!

So we are renting while here in Michigan and we have this one room that is just.....Well it looks like someone vomited on the walls. It is seriously horrible. It was painted purple then had a rag roll treatment in white over it. Can you say hideous? The owners said we could paint the walls ( they are so great and no they did not paint it that way. It was like that when they bought the house). Now this room is supposed to be the "formal" dinning room which you see when you walk in the front door. Just hold on to your lunch while you look at these pics and ignore the mess please...
They are horrible! Ewe, I think some vomit just came in my mouth while looking at these. That is my beautiful daughter in the picture. She told me I needed to paint the whole house and to start with this room. She is so smart. Must take after me.

Did you even happen to notice the beautiful crown molding? No one could get past the walls to even see the gems at the top. So here are the after shots. I used Glidden Soft Suede in a satin finish. I love it. Now on to the decorating.

I have some projects in the works. I will be making new curtains, a table clothe for the computer table, painting and hanging a large shelf, and paint the china cabinet to name a few.

Doesn't that just look so much better. It feels clean an airy and open. I love it.

When I am done in this room it's off to the living room. I am thinking maybe a shade lighter? Or not? Come back to find out. Have a great week. :O)

  1. What a transformation removing the old paper and giving it a fresh paint job makes. It looks bright, airy and oh so clean now. The molding now pops out as well.

  2. WOW! The room looks so much bigger! The owners of your house are going to just love you! And the moulding and wainescoat is really nice too! Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

  3. Wow, great job! What a can of paint can accomplish eh? Love it.

  4. Room came out great...the owners will be so happy you did this! Love the color

  5. Wow... now those were some walls stuck in a time-warp... you room looks fab now! Thanks for sharing it at the Power of Paint Party.

  6. That looks so much better! Way to go!
