Movie night consessions

Thought I would show all of you wonderful ladies what I have been up to today... Besides baking bread. LOL Tonight is our joint activity for the youth and I am in charge. I wanted to show some of the DVD for our new theme for 2010. I knew right away that treats would be in high demand if they were watching a movie. So away I went. I made up these sour cream containers (you know the ones from Wendy's) to put candy in. I thought you all might like to see how they are made if you are not familiar with them. So here goes. I took 12x12 sheets of scrapbook paper and cut them to be (4) 6x6 sheets.

Next, run a strip of double sided tape along one side.

Roll the opposite side of the paper towards the taped side and keep rolling to make the tape stick.

You should now have a cylinder like below.

Use your double sided tape again and tape one end of the cylinder.

Pinch it closed. Make sure that the corners are sealed closed.

Now run the sealed end through a crinkler thingy.. Yes that is the real name of it at my house. But, make sure to only go up about an inch.

See how the end looks like it was done in a factory on a big machine. Yes it is very professional looking.. Aren't we all just so happy.... :O)

When all the cylinders are sealed and crinkled fill them with what ever treat you would like. Since we are watching a DVD I decided movie treats were in order. So licorice bites, gummy bears, and chocolate were on the menu.

Make sure to leave enough room at the top so you can close that end too.

Once filled it is time to seal the opened end. Use your double sided tape again and pinch closed
in the opposite direction. So it will look like a kind of triangle. Does that make sense?

Run it through the crinkler thingy again and you are done!!!

Here are all of mine done. So pretty. :O) Here is my basket filled with popcorn containers purchased at Target in the dollar section and of course the popcorn itself. If you look closely you will notice some shiny silver key chains. I made all the youth washer key chains that say "BE STRONG" on them. I hope they like them.

Okay, I am all packed up and ready to head out.... Oh yeah, it does not start until 7:30. Guess I will just have to go finish priming my bed.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Until next time... Have a great one! :O)

I'm at it again!

Well, the last couple weeks have been busy. Did not get done all I wanted to but that is OK. The hubs did happen to make matching night stands for our bedroom that match the new bench that sits at the end of our bed. Yeah! I will post about those another time.
Today I am getting ready for our YM/YW activity. I will post about that tomorrow. It should be lots of fun! I hope! Keep your fingers crossed.
Any hoo, I also whipped this beauty up today for one of my Young Women who has a birthday this month. I used what I had around the house and I love it. Might have to make one for my daughter. I just cut that 1-4 to size, sanded it, painted it, then printed off the picture ( I got it from The Idea Door web site under Young Womens), rubbed some ink on the edges. I sanded the edges of the board after it dried then mod podged the picture on and put a coat of mod podge on top and let it dry. I made the flower by cutting 3 different size circles in contrasting printed scrapbook paper, rubbed ink on them then waded them up and them opened them up. It gave them the dimensional look I wanted. I added a decorative brad to the middle of them got out my trusty hot glue gun and put the flower on the the board.
I really like how it turned out. Hope Lizzy likes it! Have a great week! And happy crafting! :O)

YW Activity

So this is what we are doing for our activity tonight in YW. I found the idea at a blog called ofchocolateandmangos.blogspot.com. I thought it looked fun and I loved the idea of having a silhouette of Jordan hanging in her room. This in my take on the project. That is her (Jordan's) silhouette in the picture. Did it not just turn out soooooo cute!!! I just love it. I got the frame at Goodwill for $2 and painted it black. I made that silhouette today and put it on the 9x9 textured card stock and then went looking for a frame. Just happened upon it at Goodwill. Yeah me!!!! Hope you like today's craft and have a great day. :o)

I am what?

Well, I finally got a calling in our small branch. It only took 8 long months. I enjoyed every last minute of freedom...

So now you are asking yourself what could Margo's new calling possibly be? Well, I am the new Young Women's President. I have 1 active young woman and no counselors or Secretary. This should be fun. We will be working on trying to activate some "lost" yw I can tell.

On a different note- My nephew is being deployed for Afghanistan tomorrow and I am hoping for some help in sending lots of prayers his way for his safety. I just love him so much and I am so proud of him. I love you Zack! May the Lord be holding you in his arms for protection.
